HR and Operations Analyst- part time

The Christian Churches have established the Prison Chaplaincy Service of Aotearoa New Zealand (PCSANZ) Trust to provide chaplaincy services to all Prisons in New Zealand through funding from the Department of Corrections and SERCO.

The PCSANZ is seeking to appoint a part time HR and Operations Analyst to prepare and help implement SOPs and HR policies for all levels of the organisation (prison chaplaincy team and volunteer network through to the Trust Board) to assist PCSANZ to operate effectively and efficiently. The position also requires the successful applicant to have the ability to manage the occasional project, contribute to organisational planning, and carry out ad hoc administrative functions.

The HR and Operations Analyst will work 20 hours per week and report to the Chief Executive. 

To be successful in this role you will need to have competency in the following areas:

  • The ability to analyse operational and HR systems and procedures and to turn this analysis into high quality, logical and succinct SOPs, policies and other written documents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to use all the necessary computer software programmes
  • Understanding of the relevant HR and employment legislation
  • Understanding of the prison environment, the requirements of chaplaincy or salaried ministry positions, and the culture of the volunteer and the not-for-profit sector

The ideal candidate will also demonstrate:    

  • Empathy for the work of the PCSANZ and for the various churches that support the PCSANZ
  • That they are well organised, detail focused and have an energetic approach to their work
  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality and respect for the privacy of the individual, and ensure the security of the PCSANZ’s and the prisons’ systems and information.
  • A warm and approachable outlook
