Development grant

Development grants are made available from the Mission Enterprise Fund, funds from the Presbyterian Foundation, or the PressGo fund.

Eligible projects

Projects that are eligible for development grants fall into two categories:

  • New projects in mission
  • Building for mission

Additionally, development grants also fund building capacity and new mission seedlings. (More information on these grant categories can be found below.)

New projects in mission

Funding priorities are consistent with Council of Assembly strategic direction statements, and include:

  • Pilot or introduction of new missional ventures
  • Redevelopment of existing congregation/turnaround
  • New congregation or missional plants

Building for mission

Funding priorities are consistent with Council of Assembly strategic direction statements, and include:

  • New congregation or missional plant
  • Construction or building development (where supported by mission plan)

Capacity building

Development grants also fund building capacity within congregations to develop and extend their skills in relation to initiating a new mission project. More information about this category of development grant is available from the PressGo catalyst.

New mission seedlings

Recognised new mission seedlings, as defined and initiated by Knox Centre for Ministry and Leadership, a presbytery and a supervising congregation, are also funded through development grants. More information about this category of development grant is available from the PressGo catalyst.

Exclusions

Purposes which are ineligible for development grants are:

  • Regular operational costs including salaries and stipends
  • Building or redevelopment without a sound and intentional missional rationale.
