The manuscript archives of the NZ Foreign Missions Committee and Mission Committee contains minutes of Committee meetings, copies of the Mission Secretary's and Mission Convenor's outwards correspondence, the Mission Secretary's and Mission Convenor's inwards correspondence, subject files, memoranda, minutes of appointed sub-committees and correspondence from overseas Mission Organizations and property matters.
Missionary staff files are under the relevant Mission area. Added to this are annual reports from the overseas Mission Councils including numerous individual missionary reports. Included are reports from the various NZ Chinese Missionaries and Evangelists. Annual General reports from each Mission field contain comments on wider issues such as political, regional and economic issues which were intended to give the NZ Foreign Missions Committee an overview of each field to assist them in understanding local issues which had a bearing on Mission activities.
We hold a quantity of Mission material which was repatriated back to New Zealand from the Mission fields in South China and the Punjab. These relate to Minutes of Mission Council meetings, some inwards and outwards correspondence, some financial correspondence and property matters.
A considerable amount of photographic material survives for all Mission areas including lantern slides, photographs and original albums dating from as early as the 1880's, and some cine film dating from 1936.
