The Rev. George H. McNeur was the first missionary in the Canton Villages, and after some initial training with the Rev. Alexander Don, arrived South China in Dec 1901.

He was involved in Christian Evangelism and Preaching; the Union Theological School; and undertook many duties in relation to the Canton Villages Mission Council.  He married Sr. Margaret S. Sinclair in 1903 and they both returned to New Zealand in 1940 and were then involved with the Chinese Church in Dunedin.
