Our Archives contains a considerable amount of pre 1901 Missionary correspondence and journalistic pieces which relate to the New Hebrides (Vanuatu), India, and China including Evangelistic work amongst the Chinese in the Otago and Southland Goldfields of New Zealand having been published in various Presbyterian journals and periodicals of the day.

To assist researchers, these items have been photocopied and indexed under the following headings. Many of the published letters from Missionaries are verbatim and mostly unedited transcripts of original letters and circulars while the published general correspondence gives a valuable and often surprisingly detailed and honest insight into many religious, political, and ethnographic issues including native customs and European prejudice.

Please Note : Published material from the Evangelist Magazine (1869 to 1879) relating to the Presbyterian Mission to the Maori people, primarily in the southern area of New Zealand, has now been copied and listed.
