If you are leading a funeral/farewell or supporting a bereaved whānau or family after a suicide loss, these recent free resources from the Mental Health Foundation offer practical advice and very helpful information. The Mental Health Foundation, a respected charity championing mental health, consulted with experienced ministry leaders (including Presbyterians) from a range of Christian churches nationally, as well as celebrants and others, to develop these two resources.
Putting together a farewell ceremony after a suicide death can be especially challenging. These guidelines can give you confidence about the key things to keep in mind, as you both lead funeral/farewell planning and support those bereaved.
