Health and safety

Parishes typically see a large number of people move through their facilities in any given week.  Although some of these people will be there for non-church activities (i.e. the local parents group) they still have a right to be protected under health and safety legislation. Likewise, the Presbyterian Church has its own processes for screening of people for pastoral appointments and working with children.  Below are a series of links to resources for parishes to ensure they are meeting their responsibilities:

Risk management, ethics and leadership workshops and workbook

It is a requirement that every minister, to retain their status of good standing, must attend one of these workshops once every three years. These workshops are provided on an “as needed” basis for usually a minimum of ten people. If you are due to attend a workshop, please contact your presbytery clerk. Leaders in all aspects of your congregation’s life and ministry are also welcome to attend.
