2025 marks the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, a key moment in church history.
To recognise this event, the World Council of Churches will be hosting the Sixth World Conference on Faith and Order, under the theme, “Where Now for Visible Unity” from 24-28 October 2025, near Alexandria, Egypt.
WCC invites nominations for delegates from member churches to attend this event.
Their criteria stipulates that nominees should have expertise in ecumenical theology and be familiar with the work of the Commission on Faith and Order.
The WCC website states: “The Commission on Faith and Order undertakes theological studies so that the churches may reach sufficient agreement across their diversity and grow in mutual care and accountability. In doing so, the churches are persistent in their belief that the church of Jesus Christ is not many “churches” but One Church.”
