A group of three Palmerston North women led by Judy Seccombe, retired nurse and parish clerk of Pathways Presbyterian, who have experienced death of their husbands have created a practical guide to help people through the process of the death of a loved one.
They have printed more than 4, 000 copies of the booklet with financial assistance from the Justice-Compassion Trust Aotearoa New Zealand and Pathways Presbyterian Church.
“Practicalities Around a Death” is the free 20-page booklet created by Judy with two of her friends after her husband died in 2023. After the death of her husband, even though she had worked in the health care sector, Judy was surprised by how much she needed to know, and all the many things that needed to be done after a death.
She and her friends began writing from what they had learnt from the deaths of their spouses, then they met with ministers, GPs, other doctors, hospice nurses, paramedics etc to get more information and brought it together in an easy to understand and follow booklet.
