The NZLPA is an association of lay people who have been accredited or recognised to lead worship or preach by one of the five negotiating churches – Anglican, Churches of Christ, Congregational, Methodist and Presbyterian. Our task is to encourage and support lay people in the conduct of worship and the proclamation of the Gospel in Aotearoa New Zealand .
Membership is also open to those in training ministers, worship committees, those involved in teaching, and other interested, people.
We work with the churches to help them provide and publicise training events and programmes, and continuing education. We issue Membership Certificates to accredited preachers and licensed worship leaders, and Long Service Certificates to those who have completed over 25 years of service. We report annually to the Co-operative Ventures Forum and to the National Body of each of the member churches.
Our magazine, Word and Worship, is published four times a year to encourage members in their work. It contains articles on topics relevant to leading worship and advertises other resources. Subscription is open to anyone who is interested.
