The Knox Centre for Ministry and Leadership in collaboration with Presbyterian Youth Ministries and Student Soul would like to draw to your attention to a new discipleship camp they are piloting called Going Further. This is an exciting opportunity for one or two 18-30 year olds in your faith community. Going Further will be held at Orama on Great Barrier Island Tuesday 2 February – Sunday 7 February 2010.
Going Further provides a growing time for those young adults and leaders who hang out with the Presbyterian tribe in NZ. It’s a time to consider the call to go further in living the Jesus-way in the realities of our contemporary social and cultural climate.
There are numerous examples in history of such events shaping and inspiring a generation of young Christians to live honest, real and courageous lives for Jesus and in doing so influence and change the circumstances around them. We believe Going Further can be a time for revitalising the call of Jesus in their lives and in the life of the Church.
Contributors and mentors for this event include Howard Carter of Student Soul, Mark Johnston of KCML and Carolyn Kelly-Johnston, Emily Wotton and Carlton Johnstone of Presbyterian Youth Ministries, David Crawley from Laidlaw College, Mick Duncan of Intermission/ Carey College, and worship leaders; Malcolm and Vanessa Gordon.
There are limited places (50) for this wonderful opportunity of learning, reflection and spiritual formation. The preferred selection process is one of shoulder tapping young adults involved in Presbyterian churches who want to explore their faith as a way of life in more depth. We would like you to consider sending one or two people from your church to Going Further and to help subsidise their costs as a way of investing in them. An essential aspect of Going Further is the exploration of belonging to a faith community as part of discipleship.
