New Methodist Grant Fund for Methodist entities - Climate Justice Action - apply by 4 July

7 April 2025

Methodist parishes and rohe, synods and hui poari, and other Methodist Church entities can apply for a new grant.

The new fund for the Decade on Climate Justice - the Rekindle the Vā of Papatūānuku Grant Fund - will enable all sections of the Methodist church to take meaningful action for climate justice.

You are strongly encouraged to think boldly and creatively about initiatives they can take that embody the spirit and kaupapa of the decade and to seek a grant from the fund. With this resourcing - announced last month -  it is only our lack of imagination and passion for ecological mission that will hold us back from making a significant contribution.

A wide variety of initiatives will potentially be resourced through the fund each year. These could include projects that implement sustainable church practices, mahi that enables ecological restoration, theological education and advocacy work, community-based initiatives, creative expressions and sustainable transport solutions. But this is a far from exhaustive list.

Applications can be made through the Connexional office https://www.methodist.org.nz/contact-us/ The maximum grant per project is $15,000. The deadline for applications is 4 July 2025. Late applications will not be considered.
