Please be reminded that this is a Church Marae and is not iwi based.
If unforeseen circumstances arise and the Marae is required, any decision will be at the discretion of the Te Aka Puaho Office and the Marae Committee.
Amenities available are:
Location: The Marae is set in a beautiful backdrop of hills and native bush, enjoying privacy, which makes it ideal for retreats, seminars etc. The Marae is located at 62 Pohutukawa Ave, Ohope Beach which is the main road going through the township. The Marae stands behind the Ohope Christian Camp.
Meeting house: There is wall-to-wall carpet, mattresses, sheets, pillows and slips. In accordance with safety regulations, the maximum number of people to sleep in the house is 60 adults.
Preparations: The meeting house will be prepared by the representatives of the Marae Committee, one/some of whom will be available during your stay as a resource person/people to advise on the use of the equipment etc. if required.
Kitchen: Commercial gas oven, seven gas rings, standard electric stove, cooler, crockery, utensils etc.
Dining room: Accommodates 200 people.
Toilets/showers: All people are asked not to use the Ohope Christian Camp toilets. Some of the Marae toilet facilities are situated below the wharekai (dining hall) for those needing to use them on arrival and before the powhiri (welcome ceremony). The service road may be used to gain access to these toilets.
Parking: Parking is available on the inside left of the entrance gate to the Marae. Please do not park at the Ohope Christian Camp or you will be asked to remove your vehicles.
Rights: The Ohope Marae Committee reserves the right to review the conditions and charges, when necessary.
Please note: The Marae complex is not available for use during the last week in December to the end of January.
